As an agent of change, Dr. Ned knows change happens by direct involvement in matters that impact the well-being of society. Her appreciation for and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion are the products of life experiences as a student, educator, administrator, community advocate, and citizen of this country. According to Dr. Ned, \u201cvarious levels of representation of power, privilege, and identity are essential for overall systemic change.\u201d<\/p>\n
While at Stanford University, Dr. Ned\u2019s programmatic work involved the creation and management of several academic enrichment STEM programs. Her academic work included course instruction and co-creation of the Public Health Advocacy Curriculum (PHAC) adopted by the National Institutes of Health, Office of Minority Health. Since its development, academic and non-profit institutions (accesstoachievement.org) have adapted components of PHAC to include culturally appropriate exercises and modules. Dr. Ned\u2019s work in health disparities has been published in various peer reviewed journals such as PubMed and Research Gate.<\/p>\n
For three years, Dr. Ned served on the National Advisory Council, National Conference on Race and Ethnicity (NCORE). Experiences with NCORE set the foundation for another aspect of her academic work on Identity, Power, and Privilege as well as Narrative Storytelling which continue to be utilized by the Stanford Medical Youth Science Program (SMYSP) and Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies. She has led strategic planning efforts for local and nationally based organizations such as, Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies, Office of Medical Degree Admissions-Stanford University School of Medicine, Access to Achievement Education Foundation, and the Southern University Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development Institute (SARDI) to re-examine organizational sustainability.<\/p>\n
Dr. Ned is a progressive thought leader who has spent her career advocating for others through education and community initiatives. In her role as a nonprofit manager with Public Allies, she developed and conducted leadership development workshops, strengthened community partnerships through coalition building, and created an adult mentoring program and speaker\u2019s bureau. Another aspect of her community involvement was as a Dispute Resolution Mediator with the Santa Clara County, Human Relations-Dispute Resolution unit.<\/p>\n
Currently, Dr. Ned remains active in a number of local and national initiatives that support educational and community change. In her hometown of Baton Rouge, she volunteers as a member for the Southern University and Scotlandville Plan, Neighborhood Committee with the Center for Planning Excellence; grant reviewer for Project Based and Program Impact grants with Capital Area United Way; member of the Enrollment Management and Student Affairs Board Committee with the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University; and serves as Chair for the Social Justice Ministry for her home church. She is a recent graduate of the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations Community Leaders Training Program. She has demonstrated success in securing and managing both in-kind and operational funding from individuals, foundations, and government in excess of $4.8 million. Dr. Ned\u2019s career has, and continues to embody the essence of making change happen.<\/p>\n
